pupils-playing-instrumentsMusic is taught throughout the school by a specialist teacher. Pupils explore different genres of music, learning to perform in groups of various sizes, on both voice and various instruments, using different musical techniques to compose within different traditions. This is supported by listening to different pieces of music and an introduction to the theory of music.

pupils-dramaDrama is taught throughout the Senior school; pupils learn fundamental theatre techniques and explore different theatrical genres as well as how to construct and communicate narratives in ways that will engage an audience.

In both disciplines the emphasis is on working cooperatively in various groupings, applying new techniques and gaining the confidence to perform to different audiences.

As well as the timetabled lessons there is a thriving extra-curricular tradition at Beech Hall, with Choirs and Drama groups for both Seniors and Juniors as well as smaller vocal and instrumental ensembles available. In a small school we have the opportunity to tailor opportunities for individuals and the groups scheduled are, in a large part, as a response to demand.

We also offer instrumental lessons, with visiting teachers currently providing lessons in Guitar, Strings, Drums, Voice, Piano and Woodwind.
