Welcome to the Beech Hall School Careers Department.
At Beech Hall School, our aim is to help students to choose a career that is right for them. We are fully committed to careers education and guidance (CEG) for all of our students and evaluate our practice against the Gatsby Charitable Foundation’s Benchmarks. Careers Education is an integral part of our provision for all students and it is taught within the PSHE (Personal, Social, Health Education) curriculum within all key stages, although there is some cross-over into other subject areas. This is all supported by the BTEC Personal Growth and Wellbeing Level 2 course.
At Beech Hall, we provide a varied programme of careers information, advice and guidance. This is delivered through dedicated PSHE lessons, presentations, careers fairs, industry visits and workshops. Supporting your child in making decisions around their future can be daunting, confusing and complex but we are here to support you and your child in this important process throughout your time as a Beech Hall parent.. In addition, during Lower V and Upper V, we shall help organise work experience for your child.
Your careers education begins at Beech Hall from the time you become a member of our school. Through lessons, advice, assemblies, trips and events, you are given the opportunity to reflect on who you are, who you might want to be and where you are heading during your time at Beech Hall and beyond.

If you are a local employer and would like to support the school’s careers programme, including Work Experience for Lower V in June or presenting to different year groups in assembly, then please do not hesitate in contacting the schools careers lead Mr Ben Coulbeck:
We believe that every teacher is a teacher of careers. Our young people need and deserve our support and guidance to achieve their potential and to secure aspirational destinations.
As a form tutor of Form III – Upper V / Years 7-11, you will follow the Jigsaw PSHE programme to deliver lessons and activities, which are designed to provide opportunities for every Beech Hall pupil to learn, reflect and aspire when considering their own skills, knowledge and attributes. During discussion time, it is an expectation that the world of industry, technology, employment and education is regularly featured as a point of instruction, debate and engagement.
Furthermore, during target-setting meetings and parents evening appointments, supporting children and their families in making decisions around courses and pathways is also an expectation of all teaching staff at Beech Hall.
